The spellbook

Three things to know before you bet

Odds are prices, not predictions

Decimal odds of 2.50 mean a winning €10 bet returns €25 including your stake. Convert them to a percentage (1 ÷ 2.50 = 40 %) and you see the probability the bookmaker is implying. Add the percentages of all outcomes in a market: the amount above 100 % is the bookmaker's margin. Lower is better for you.

What a licence actually tells you

A licence from a strict regulator (UK, Malta, Denmark, Ontario and others) means audited games, segregated player funds and a complaints body you can turn to. A Curaçao licence sets a lower bar. Neither is a guarantee of a good experience, which is why we also look at the operator's track record.

Set your limits before you deposit

Decide on a monthly budget you could lose without it hurting, set it as a deposit limit in your account on day one, and treat any bonus as a bonus, not as a reason to stake more. Wagering requirements of 5× or more on sports and 30× or more on casino are common; read them before you opt in.
